U.S. slaps new sanctions against eights Russian companies

WASHINGTON, Mar 27 (PRIME) -- The U.S. has introduced sanctions against eight Russian companies due to a non-proliferation law on Syria, Iran and North Korea, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department told PRIME on March 25.

The spokesperson said the sanctions are not connected with “wider economic restrictions imposed after 2014”.

The new list comprises arms exporters Rosoboronexport, Aviaexport, KBM, Bazalt, the Bugayev Ulyanovsk Institute of Civil Aviation, the Urals Training Center of Civil Aviation, the Zhukovsky Air-Force Academy and the 150th Aircraft Repair Plant.

The sanctions were introduced on March 21 and announced on March 24. The particular reasons for them have not been disclosed yet.
